I understand most people don’t like reading large amounts of text, but please bear with me.If there is anything that you should read, it is this.
Ever since starting my gaming “Career”, I have been in plenty of clans. This is however my first creation as well as my first community. So this is going to be a first time for both. I first feel it is necessary to describe why I am doing this and secondly I wish to prove why I should be a leader that you may follow (if you wish). Finally I will describe what it “takes” to be a part of this new community, unlocking the groups and allowing anyone to join in and tag up at their prerogative.
The first main reason I want to start this, is to offer something different than the traditional clan or team. They all give companionship and a sense of belonging, but I feel they do this at the cost of diversity and dynamics. You end up with a clan filled with people who have been therefor a long time and people who have just started with nothing between. I decided to fill that gap, and create a community that benefits from change and thrives with diversity. My goal is to plant the seed of change in everyone, to allow everyone to get a sense that there is always something more and there is always something to be discovered. That is one of the core things Aer Gaming is founded upon.
I have seen WAY too many clans be created and fall within a year if not months of conception. None of which I felt had any foresight, planning or consideration of the people that would join them. So I instead decided to do something different, do everything from the sight of the member looking up instead of the leader looking down. This gives me a different look into how members interact with each other and how a community develops over time. I feel that because I’m trying to do this for the benefit of the member, it makes me well suited as a leader. I am building a community as how a member would want it, giving the best possibility that new members will like it here at Aer Gaming instead of other places where it becomes intolerably oppressive.
Below are the list of things or goals that I want to see Aer Gaming accomplish, this isn’t a to-do list but more of a wish list, things I want to see happen.
Things I personally want to uphold (While I am physically here):
- Do my best to make decisions that are best for Aer Gaming.
- Create an environment that best suits every one to the best of my ability.
- Not allow myself to succumb to favoritism or bias.
- Never give a position in exchange for money, trust or loyalty.
- Give the benefit of the doubt and give a chance to those who have none.
- Lead those that want to be led, not those who ought to be.
- To end Aer Gaming if/when there is no chance of success within a reasonable amount of time.
- To give those that work the hardest the best honors and kudos.
- Create a tradition not based upon repetition or sameness, but on dynamics and change.
- Be available to the community as much as possible and not slack off until I retire as a leader.
- Peacefully pass on leadership once my time is done to the one with the most capable hands.
Things I want Aer Gaming to do (Even if I am gone):
- Become a multi-platform multi-gaming community.
- Have a wide range of members from all over the world that goes post triple digits.
- Create an active staff that replaces the old ones with new, never remaining stagnant.
- Create an excellent staff to maintain and ultimately take over Aer Gaming.
- Have organized gaming nights and LAN parties.
- Become a community known for openness and acceptance instead of exclusivity.
- Build a pool of information and knowledge that all can use and share without cost.
- Creating channels of communication to people and places never brought before.
- To always remain free to join and free to leave, like winds of time.
- Remain true to itself and not lose its way.
- Succeed beyond my own expectations.
Definition of an “Aer Gamer”: Someone who is willing to try something new, who will not just endure change but embrace it. Someone who can have fun not just because they are good at what they do or that they are winning, but also because he/she is playing with his/her friends. Someone who can tolerate others who are not similar to themselves, but still respect them as a person.
If you know that you can be an Aer Gamer, feel free to throw the tag on and embrace this new living community. If not, that is ok as too! We want diversity here, and every additional visitor is another grain of sand added to this new ocean of possibilities we call Aer Gaming. Today is the birth of a new light that shines brilliantly over that ocean.Breathe deep and exhale, your reading is over.
